Ascriptions
I ascribe everything in my envrionment with meaning: the Pilbara landscape means courage, and I offer it in my artworks with definitive lines.
Natural forms, every day items and collected objects carry symbolic significance—I am cataloguing them with Gertrude Stein’s quote in mind, “a rose is a rose is a rose ...”. I am also exporing her notion that repetition is insistence. Repeating an image, guided by the principles of serial art, ultimately changes the relationship between me and the object. By engaging associative text, I am stepping into the cultural space of cursive writing.
