Since arriving in Australia I have been exploring the ephemeral beauty of the natural world. The Australian landscape—its intense light, rich palette and dramatic features—has become vital to my artistic expression.

First I looked up to find beauty in the vast landscape, then I looked down. To be inspired and to interest my eyes I am venturing on “Eyes Down Walks”. The ground became my palette: sand, rocks, leaves, gibber, gravel and plant life. The natural objects under my feet became my subject matter. I distil their aesthetic heart and define each element, following the principles of minimalism.

In this artwork, I am presenting the elements in repetition resp. overlay and build up a visual impact. Each time I depict the same object, it reveals something more of its presence. The repetition increases my focus and awareness, sharpens my senses, ultimately reducing the distance between me and the object. Please find the full statement for my art series “Leaves of Life” under “Glimpse Passion”.
