In Memory of my Father
Linoprint, 17 x 26 cm
family. In his free time he was outside in nature, drawing and painting the landscape around the city of Salzburg, Austria—hills and mountains, the moorland, fields and hay shacks. When he was not outside he sat at his desk, working on sketches, cutting and printing with lino and wood. His other media were clay and ceramics. To sharpen his attention and awareness, he practised archery and boomerang throwing (rare activities in Austria, in the 1950s and 60s).
This artwork is a homage to my father, an expression of my gratitude for what he has passed on to me: the love for the natural world and the arts. And a bit of talent (not for archery—I tried and gave up).
